I have trouble sleeping lately. No clue why. Maybe it’s the peaceful quiet of the night. Maybe it’s the gloomy autumn. (Maybe it’s the sugary midnight snacks… Guess we’ll never know.)
New obsession dropped
I was reading “Empire of Vampire” and it’s a good book so far. Too bad I stopped reading because I became obsessed with “Person of Interest”. My god. This show has everything I like. From good storylines and complex characters to questions of humanity and ethics, with a good dose of humour in later seasons. (I guess to help a bit as the story becomes quite gloomy.)
In a record time, it has easily placed itself in my top 5. (“Due South” is still my number one, 22 years later.) I have about 10 episodes left to finish watching the whole thing, and I’m dreading the ending because I glimpsed some spoilers and it’s not looking good. But… The show does a good job of preparing its viewers for the inevitable. If I’m not wrong, at least the major character death will not be as sudden as Izzy Hands in “Our Flag Means Death” season 2. (We did get some hints, but honestly it was mostly on the lines of “this is usually what happens with characters when they go through these arcs”. Or maybe I just had high hopes that this show wouldn’t go that route.)
Hoping to finish it next week. Although I might pace myself a bit, especially since it seems like there are no more filler episodes I can play in the background while I draw. Then I can go back to the vampire slayer trying to save the world. I admit I got the book months ago, but wasn’t in a hurry to read it. The 2nd part comes out in February 2024, so I do want to have it still somewhat fresh in my mind in case they release a copy in Serbian soon after. (I should probably check the publisher’s website or maybe contact them to see if they have any plans for it.)
Blood Bound update and other comics
I finished inks for pages 23 and 24 of Blood Bound on Friday, and I’m spending this weekend colouring them and getting the update ready for the new episode. I’m still struggling with deciding what short comic to start working on. I have the outlines ready for two stories set in the Blood Bound universe. The Green Hunter is on pause. Yet, I’m itching for something in a modern setting. Maybe a crime/mystery graphic novel. I always wanted to create one of those.
